A New Day for Camp Sutton!
After six months of work and many signs of favor, the day for the Outreach in Union County had finally arrived. The Outreach was designed to just be a launching point for follow-up work in the community that would be done by several churches and ministries.
An early forecast had predicted rain but we prayed and the forecast changed to sunny skies with a high of 75. But as the day approached, the forecast changed once again. One of the volunteers as he earnestly and fervently prayed had a vision for the first time – he saw breaking skies so he issued a decree for the first time that the Lord would breakthrough for us.
So we stood on that vision and that decree as we packed up and drove out that day. We knew the Lord was with us as 20-30 people had responded to help from Life Church alone, other churches & ministries had agreed to participate, prayer was being offered up every week during Life Church’s Sunday evening prayer meeting, and then agreement to use the private field on Walkup came through along with the Sound permit from the county in record time.
Pressing In!
But as we drove to the field, gentle rain still was pouring down. I walked to the corner of the field and talked to the Lord about the vision of breaking skies. It was the first time that person had prayed so boldly. I stayed in the corner as I saw the others arrive bearing tables, chairs, food, the grill and sound equipment. I was determined to go forward because I knew with the vision of breaking skies and all that the Lord had already done that He was surely with us.
Cori Favor, the Outreach leader, soon came out to the field shouting with joy! There were 20-30 people there and God had moved on the hearts of a people to reach out beyond the four walls of the church. And there were churches that laid down their names and boundaries and had come together in the Spirit of the Lord.
So we pitched the two tents we had – which were NOT waterproof by the way 🙂 – and we began to worship the Lord.
Doris began to testify about how it had rained the first three days of the Cane Ridge Revival in Paris, KY back in the 1800s and how the glory of the Lord still fell on the 25,000 people that had gathered there with no phones, emails or Facebook posting – and the Second Great Awakening surged forward into full swing. Out of that awakening, our nation had come back from cold hearts to fiery God-fearing fortitude and as a result slavery was abolished. We cried out as we worshiped – “O Lord, do it again!”
A Plan of Action
After worship, we soon came up with a plan to go out into the community to distribute the food we had brought. So the grill was unleashed and we began to unload and set up in the rain. An outreach team from one of the participating churches went out into the community with our food goodie bags, letting folks know that if they wanted more to come on out. And so they did – even in the rain.
The local fire company (our prophetic sign of the fire and power of God being with us) still brought their truck out for the kids and they stayed with us until the end.
The Sound of the Abundance of Rain!
And testimonies and prayers still went forth. Testimonies of deliverance and prayers for breakthrough, healing and the baptism in Holy Spirit!!
PROPHETIC WORD RECEIVED IN 2004:
ACCORDING TO 1 KINGS 18. “AFTER A LONG WHILE”, THE LORD TOLD ELIJAH THAT IT WAS GOING TO RAIN. NOW THERE WAS A SEVERE FAMINE IN THE LAND BECAUSE THREE YEARS EARLIER ELIJAH HAD CURSED THE LAND AND COMMANDED NO RAIN BECAUSE AHAB WAS THE MOST UNRIGHTEOUS KING IN THAT TIME AND HE WAS LEADING THE PEOPLE TO SIN. THIS TIME, ELIJAH TOLD KING AHAB TO “GO EAT AND DRINK FOR THERE IS THE SOUND OF HEAVY RAIN”. NOW THE FAMINE HAD BEEN SO SEVERE THAT SERVANTS WERE BEING SENT OUT TO SEARCH FOR GRASS TO HELP KEEP THE ANIMALS ALIVE. SO THERE WAS NO PHYSICAL EVIDENCE AND LITTLE HOPE THAT IT WOULD RAIN. BUT IT DID RAIN – FIRST THERE WAS THE SPIRITUAL SOUND, THEN THE APPEARANCE OF “A CLOUD THE SIZE OF A MAN’S HAND, …THEN THE SKY GREW BLACK WITH CLOUDS, THE WIND ROSE, A HEAVY RAIN CAME… WITH THAT, THE POWER OF THE LORD CAME UPON ELIJAH …”.
