“Come in King of Glory”
The Queens Mini Mart is known in the neighborhood as being a drug dealer hang out and several women who attend the church up the street say that they walk several blocks out of their way to avoid coming past this store. We chose to have an Outreach at this location because back in December the brother-in-law of the mayor of Columbia, SC was shot and killed execution style right there in the parking lot in the middle of a weekday afternoon. In fact, over the past few years, several young men have been killed at or near this location.
A small advanced team had come out to this area several times to both pray over the actual spot(s) where the young men have been killed and to canvas the neighborhood up the street to let them know that the Lord loved them and was with them.
While in prayer over this Outreach, RHM’s leader was directed by the Lord to watch the movie Lone Survivor which was based on a true story. From that movie she saw the heart of the Lord through the Afghani Villager who risked his life to save this last surviving American soldier because of a 2000 year old tradition of taking in a stranger and making a covenant that the stranger’s enemy would be their enemy.
So following our 2000 year old tradition, she purposed to stand in the place of covenant for this community on behalf of the Lord. She further received the words “Holy unto the Lord” and was reminded by the Lord that although His curses go for four generations, His blessings go on for a 1000 generations.
And Deut. 7 makes reference to both:
6 “For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth. 7 The Lord did not set His love on you nor choose you because you were more in number than any other people, for you were the least of all peoples; 8 but because the Lord loves you, and because He would keep the oath which He swore to your fathers,
9 “Therefore know that the Lord your God, He is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and mercy for a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments;”
So the team entered into this Outreach on behalf of the Lord, our covenant-keeping God, with that declaration and that prayer. We decreed that He had heard their prayers and He has sent help to those who would obey Him. That He would indeed have mercy and bless and multiply them – we loosed blessings to those who would embrace Him and His covenant – upon their children, their land, their business – and we bound any sickness and bound the hands of their enemies. We loosed His warring angels to fight on their behalf.
And we stood in that broken down place and we welcomed Holy Spirit, His angel armies and our King of Glory!
