Camp Greene Community Outreach – Hosted by Purcell UMC – August 2014

“Come in King of Glory”

We greeted the community on behalf of a Son who loved His Father enough to give Him the gift of many sons and many daughters through His sacrifice on the cross. We shouted out John 3:16:  For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have eternal life. We welcomed the Son to be with us by His Spirit.

So we welcomed Our King of Glory to Camp Greene, we welcomed Holy Spirit, we welcomed the gift of eternal life!

We worshiped Him and we offered prayers and testimonies. Lisa Taylor of Purcell UMC welcomed the community and we gave away on their behalf school supplies and cell phones.

We fed those who attended a lunch of hamburgers and hot dogs with plenty for them to carry home to loved ones and friends. We then fed their spirits.

We declared how they were made in the image of an Almighty Creator who, as described in Genesis 1, made something out of nothing.

Genesis 1:1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light”; and there was light.26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” 27 So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. 28 Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

Since we are all made in His image, we likewise can all make something out of nothing. We encouraged them to let go of sin and to embrace who they really are and the future, plan and destiny that our Heavenly Father had waiting for them by the finished work of His Son Jesus.

So we entered into a time of ministry. Several children gave their lives to the Lord and many adults were ministered to. One man in particular who was suffering from schizophrenia gave his life to the Lord and received the baptism of Holy Spirit.  See pictures below for some of the highlights.
